Countdown To The End, And The Beginning
Apr. 20th, 2010 03:17 pmIn a few hours, my Tuesday night group will begin the final session of our long-running D&D 3.5 Forgotten Realms game. We began at first level on May 1, 2007. Tonight, our eighteenth level party will enter an extradimensional prison guarded by a host of demons and devils in order to free a goddess.
While I don't expect my Val, my Sunite Paladin to meet his fate tonight, it's certainly a possibility, and it would be a good death for him. Either way, I'm going to miss him. He's by far my longest-running D&D character, even going back to high school.
Fortunately, when the campaign ends, the gaming won't. We're already considering new avenues to explore. We've started a Pathfinder game that's got lots of potential, and we've got a couple of other proposals on the table.
So, even if I miss Val, I'll still be among friends. And that's the beauty of the hobby.
