Gamers - The Next Generation
Sep. 21st, 2009 12:54 pmSo, a few weeks ago, my friend Rick from my Tuesday night group is bemoaning the fact that he's only got the one game a week going. So I ask him "What do you do with your weekends?"
"Mostly fritter."
At which point I pitch an idea. I've been wanting to get my son (age 9) more involved in tabletop RPGing. The problem is, he's got some fairly severe attention deficit issues and I really don't want to inflict him on my adult group (nor inflict my adult group on him). Rick's got a boy of his own about a year younger and I know he's been talking about introducing him to gaming. So, why not put together a regular RPG day for the kids? We pitch it to another guy in the group who has two of his own, and suddenly, we've got enough for a decent D&D party.
So, it looks like in a few weeks, we'll kick things off, with one parent GMing, and the others playing pets or familiars or flunkies of the heroes in training. We'll see how it goes, but it sounds like it'll be fun.
