Gen Con preparations continue. This weekend's NWoD game got canceled due to GM illness, and I'm not playing Tuesday night (since I'm leaving early on Wednesday morning). Of course, I've potentially got a lot of gaming ahead of me, so I can use the break. Even if I don't do a lot of hands-on gaming, I will be doing a lot of shopping. At present, here's my tmust-buy list:
Hero 6th Edition (this will actually be a pre-order, since they won't have the books at the show. They are providing a CD with the PDF with a pre-order, though.)
Chronica Feudalis (I've got the PDF, I want a print copy.)
Wild Talents - Essential Edition (ditto)
The Shard RPG (this is a setting an old friend came up with many years ago and it's nice to see it finally seeing publication)
Some D&D stuff (probably Manual of the Planes and one of the $5 PHBs along with it)
Other than that, it'll depend on what looks interesting and how much I want to transport back.
Apart from Gen Con, my brain has been split on two projects.
First, I've been toying around with a rather different sort of superhero setting. At this point, I don't know whether it would be better as a game setting or for some other form of fictional output, so I don't want to talk about it too much yet. As a result, I've been reading outside my normal inspiration sources.
The other is my continuing wish to run a 4e D&D game for my (9 year old) son. The biggest complication here is finding four more players to make a balanced group. I'd hoped to recruit some friends with a kid my son's age, but our schedules haven't meshed, and we're coming up on a new school year, which will make scheduling even trickier. So, no progress on that front, much to my regret.
